15-node P4-2.8GHz Cluster System

 

Hydra is a 15-node P4-2.8GHz cluster system configured principally for molecular dynamics simulations.  Each node operates a local 160 GB hard drive, with a 0.5 MB memory.  The top node is equipped with an additional 300 GB hard drive and an additional 0.5 GB of memory.  The system communicates via a 100 MB/s private network, and a separate 100 MB/s external link.  Current projects running on Hydra are the adsorbed phases of atomic species on self-assembled monolayers, the selective adsorption of phenol on imperfect organic monolayer surfaces, and the adsorption and thermal transformations of organometallic species such as Fe(CO)5 on surfaces.
